Happy Friday to you all. Last week I was on vacation. For part of the week I was up in the Pocono mountains and was researching haunted places. There is a haunted candle shoppe. Here is how it is being promoted on the Pocono website:
Come tour The Haunted at The Candle Shoppe of the Poconos! As seen on Animal Planet’s “The Haunted.” The Candle Shoppe of the Poconos is located inside a beautiful building which was built in 1897. The original owner, Doctor William Redwood Fisher, lived in this home with his family, and he also used it as his workplace. Dr. Fisher had a biological research laboratory in the basement of his home. Here, he performed research on primates which allowed for the creation of Small Pox and Yellow Fever vaccines. When you come tour the haunted, you will get the full history of the home and the research which went on in the basement of the Candle Shoppe. You will get to see, first-hand, the original monkey cages which are still standing in the basement of the building, as well as many other original doctors equipment and documents.
They do have tours if you are interested.
This Monday there will be a new episode of The Real Demons of Pop Culture. The demon this week will be Hades. The following evening I will do a YouTube LIVE about the relationship between Hades & Persephone. I hope to see ya there.
I am currently reading Pandemonium: A Visual History of Demonology by Ed Simon. I really enjoy the art of depicting demons and their demonic shenanigans. Throughout history artists have tried to create visual depictions of evil. The artwork can be anything from downright hilarious to utterly disturbing. It is also interesting to see how the art of Christianity borrowed heavily from Ancient Greek art and the art of Ancient Mesopotamia.
I watched House of Dragons. It was enjoyable. I love Matt Smith in everything he does so that always helps. I will have to wait and see how the season goes before I make a decision on it though.
If you follow me on Instagram or Facebook you may have noticed I have been posting daily readings of Tarot. One big misconceptions about Tarot is that it can predict the future. But really it is about intuition and “soul” searching. The cards point to an aspect of yourself and your life and you meditate on that for guidance. You could use Tarot as a tool for self-help without any of the woo woo spiritual stuff. But if you dig the spiritual, I’m sure it feels more mysterious.
On TikTok I have been posting some little tidbits about obscure and downright silly demons. Last night I talked about Pugot, the demon who loves to steal woman’s underwear. I would love to know how that demon originated. Probably some pervert in the Philippines got everyone talking and Pugot was born.
Today I am going to go see Rogue One: A Star Wars Story in IMAX. So excited. It is in my top 3 Star Wars Movies.
Well, I need another cup of coffee so it is time to say goodbye. Till next week, HEAVY METAL 🤘
